Eight Life-Shaping Priorities

There are eight times in the New Testament were we are told to “make every effort”. It turns out that these eight exhortations form a solid life plan for maximum impact and fulfillment.

They are wisdom.

I will show you the list in this post, and then take them one at a time in subsequent posts to help us consider how to put them in play.

Here are eight life-shaping priorities:

  1. Do what leads to peace and mutual edification. (Romans 14:19)

2. Keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:3)

3. Add to your faith. (goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and love) (2 Peter 1:5)

4. Enter through the narrow door. (Luke 13:24)

5. Enter God’s rest as an act of obedience. (Hebrews 4:11)

6. Live at peace with everyone and be holy. (Hebrews 12:14)

7. Confirm your calling and election. (2 Peter 1:10)

8. Be found spotless, blameless and at peace with God. (2 Peter 3:14)

Like the Ten Commandments, this list strikes me as a brilliantly wise and simple strategy for life. This sets us up for emotional peace, relational depth, vocational success, and vitality of soul.

More to come...
